0430. The trumpet blasted me from my slumber. “Wake Up! Wake Up! Wake Up!” The drill instructor’s voice echoed through the halls like an emergency siren. Heart pounding in my chest, I sprung out of my bunk, dropped to my knees in a daze sliding my hand under the bed trying to find my shoes in the dark. “Hurry up! Let’s go! Let’s go!” I tucked my toes inside, pulled on the back of my shoe, shoved my heels in and shuffled to the hallway as fast as possible. My eyes squinted as the bright light alerted my senses. “What is taking so long, maggots?!” I stood as stiff as I could, hands in a fist at my side, looking straight ahead making sure to avoid eye contact, heart still pounding in my ears. “You have five minutes to get your uniforms on and be outside in formation…starting NOW! Go! Go! Go!”
It is time to wake up from your slumber! Wake up! Do you hear the trumpet blasting? What is it time for you to do? It is time to RISE UP! Rise above the obstacles and do what you were created to do. What is your purpose? What have you always dreamed of doing? Time is running out. It is time to get to work!
